Ascent Federal Credit Union Merger Vote
Dear Valued Member,
The proposed merger between Ascent Federal Credit Union and Goldenwest Federal Credit
Union represents an exciting and important step in Ascent’s history. With the unanimous
support of the Ascent Board of Directors and approval from the National Credit Union
Administration (NCUA), we are moving forward with a strategic opportunity designed to
strengthen our credit union for the future while honoring our past, operating as Weber State
Credit Union, a division of Goldenwest Credit Union. As a member-owned cooperative,
your participation matters—and your vote counts.
Restoring the Weber State Credit Union name honors our long-standing WSU heritage,
strengthens university pride and loyalty, and carries our shared history forward with the
added scale and resources of Goldenwest to better serve members in the years ahead. This
merger brings together two credit unions that share a commitment to member service,
financial strength, and community values. By combining resources, Ascent and Goldenwest
will be better positioned to expand access to full-service branches, reduce fees, improve
rates, broaden product offerings, and invest in enhanced digital banking services.
Your vote is essential. Approval of the merger requires a majority vote of participating
Ascent Federal Credit Union members. Each “YES” vote helps move us toward a stronger,
more resilient credit union—one that is better equipped to meet your evolving financial
needs.
A special membership meeting to share the results of the vote on the proposed merger with Goldenwest Federal Credit Union is scheduled for May 14, 2026 at 7pm at the WSU Hurst Center, located 1265 E Village Drive Ogden, UT 84408. The merger is anticipated to become legally effective on June 1, 2026, with full system integration expected to be completed by November 1, 2026.
