Q1: If elected, what assets (i.e. skills, expertise, etc.) would you bring to the Board of Directors, and how would these benefit the credit union and its members?

Having served on the Board of Directors since 1997 (Board Chair since 2008) and with over 40 years of experience in the public and private sector, I will bring a range of administrative, financial, and investment knowledge to the Board. Along with my personal commitment to serve, my background and experience will help to ensure that our credit union will continue to be an important and viable provider of financial and related services for our members.

Q2: If elected, what would be your primary focus for the year as a member of the Board?

As a re-elected member of the Board, my primary focus will be to bring to fruition the services and initiatives already planned and/or underway. I will continue to be fiscally prudent to ensure the safety and soundness of the credit union, while pursuing my vision of a member-friendly, responsive organization capable of providing the best possible savings and loan rates and enhanced member services.

 
Benjamin B. Lee

Q1: If elected, what assets (i.e. skills, expertise, etc.) would you bring to the Board of Directors, and how would these benefit the credit union and its members?

I will inspire and collaborate with the APFCU Board of Directors ensuring APFCU's health and vitality, using high-value products and services for its members, while protecting assets. Customer service is job one.

I will bring the management skills, depth of experience and the knowledge base I have learned as Managing Director to the Credit Union. I provided the supervision of the daily operations of all the City's departments with 9,000 employees, and provided budgeting and fiscal guidance for each department during the City's annual budget review. The operating budget in FY 2003-2004 was $1.3B.

I am a Principal of Clifford Planning & Architecture, creating award-winning, sustainable planning and architectural designs.

Q2: If elected, what would be your primary focus for the year as a member of the Board?

I will assist the APFCU Directors and its employees through research, seeking new practices, improving services and products offered to members, while maintaining APFCU fiscal well-being. Customer service is a primary responsibility, encouraging existing members to remain while attracting new members - achieving growth and sustainability. APFCU must face forward making functional changes. I understand financial reports, projections and statements. I will work to inspire, collaborate, and assist APFCU to reach all goals, providing outstanding customer service ensuring it maintains a sustainable economic and robust financial future.

Q1: If elected, what assets (i.e. skills, expertise, etc.) would you bring to the Board of Directors, and how would these benefit the credit union and its members?

I would continue to bring the knowledge and expertise gained from serving as a member of the Board of Directors since 2002 including as the current Treasurer, as 2nd Vice Chair from 2008 to 2023, as the Board Designated Representative for the Bond Renewal from 2021 to 2023, as Chair of the Budget Committee from 2002 to 2014, as Chair of the Policy Committee from 2013 to 2014, and as a member of the CUSO of Hawaii board from 2006 to 2008 and 2017 to 2019. I also worked in budget/financial management for over 30 years with the City/BWS. These experiences have continued to provide valuable insights into the challenges that must be met to ensure that our credit union will continue to adapt, grow and prosper for the benefit of our current and future members

Q2: If elected, what would be your primary focus for the year as a member of the Board?

As a re-elected director, my primary focus would be to ensure that our credit union will continue to succeed in meeting the ever-changing financial needs of our members. To accomplish this, our members must continue to be offered: (1) innovative financial products and services that will best meet their changing financial situations in these challenging economic times; (2) improved online banking options; (3) the best possible interest rates on savings; and (4) competitive loan rates.
