Brent Schlegel
Brent  Schlegel

Mr. Schlegel earned his B.B.A. in Operations Management and Supply Chain Management from The University of Toledo in 2005, an M.B.A. in Management and Strategy from The Ohio State University in 2011.  And also earned his J.D. from The University of Toledo in 2023.

Brent Schlegel served on the Directions Credit Union Board from January of 2015 till March of 2020, and during that time, he served as Vice Chair in 2018 and Secretary in 2019.  His time on the Board of Directors for Directions Credit Union has been some of the most rewarding times of my career, and would very much enjoy the opportunity to serve you again.

Mr. Schlegel was born and raised in Northwest Ohio and has lived here his entire life. He has two children, Robert and Emma, who live in Toledo. He has owned and operated his own businesses since 2020.

 
Sarah Mercer
Sarah  Mercer

Sarah Mercer is Senior Counsel, Labor and Employment with Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Findlay, Ohio. Before joining Marathon, Sarah was in private practice with Eastman & Smith Ltd., a law firm located in Toledo, Ohio. Sarah's practice focuses on employment law compliance and labor relations.

Sarah served on Directions Credit Union's board of directors from 2010 until 2024 and served as Board Chair from March 2014 to March 2016. Sarah has two (nearly) grown children and enjoys watching live music, football, and Formula 1 racing.

 
Fred Kominek
Fred  Kominek

Fred Kominek retired from the Airport Community School system after 37 years of service. He served as Vice President for the County Association MEA and as a Director at Education Plus Credit Union who merged with Directions Credit union in 2017. Mr. Kominek has served on the Governance, Audit, and Finance Committees at Directions Credit Union.

Jay Malcolm
Jay  Malcolm

Jay Malcolm is currently a Senior Business Development Executive at Sharetec, a software company serving the technology requirements of Credit Unions across the country and in the Caribbean. Serving in this role for the last 8 years, he provides software and support to Credit Unions in 13 states + Puerto Rico. Prior work experience includes five years at another software company and nearly 20 years of banking experience at Fifth Third Bank and Huntington Bank. Jay has served on the Directions Credit Union board for over seven years and previously served as board Chairman for three years. Serving on the board has been a wonderful opportunity to help Directions continue its success and impact in the community.

Jay started his professional career in Toledo, OH after graduating from Hillsdale College with a BA in Finance. He later obtained an MBA from the University of Toledo. While in Toledo he served on various local not-for-profit boards. For the past fourteen years he has been in the New Philadelphia, OH area where he resides with his wife. He has 4 children aged 19 to 26.
