Dear Member,
CP Federal Credit Union has filed an application to change from a federal chartered credit union to a Michigan state chartered credit union as announced in our January newsletter. The application has received the required approval by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS), and we are now ready for the membership vote, on which we are asking for your participation.

The decision to file an application to change emerged after months of research and evaluation by our Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team. Currently, as a federal credit union we can only serve those who are eligible to join our credit union through one of our Select Employer Groups, or Community Partners as we like to call them.

Under the new charter, we will be able to serve all persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in the State of Michigan. As we continue to meet the needs in the Jackson community, open new branches and move into new markets, we believe that the federal field of membership rules impair our ability to meet the needs in their entirety due to current restrictions.

Although we are a very financially strong credit union and do not need to expand in the short term, in order to make sure that our credit union services are available for the next generations, and to remain true to our mission of cultivating legacy-defining moments for the people and places we serve for generations to come, we believe that this is a proactive move to help ensure the long term viability of our credit union and to ensure we are able to meet the diverse financial needs in our communities.

Join me for a “fireside” chat to discuss the upcoming charter change vote at the following locations.
Brooklyn 131 W. Main St.July 1st 12:30-1:30pm
Main Office 1100 Clinton Rd.July 2nd 12-1pm
Saline Branch 559 E. Michigan Ave.July 8th 1-2pm
Mason Branch 103 E. Kipp Rd.July 14th 12:30-1:30pm
For additional information, we have a comprehensive Q & A on what the charter change means to our members & the credit union available at In addition, I would like to extend an invitation to chat personally about the charter change at our scheduled lobby days listed here.

The final decision on whether to convert rests with you, our members and we strongly encourage you to exercise your membership right to vote. Although we are considering changing our charter, we will never change our commitment to our members, employees and the communities and groups that we serve.

Warm Regards,

Chrissy Siders
