On behalf of the board of directors of LGE Community Credit Union, I am pleased to share we have received regulatory approval to pursue a merger with Ascend Federal Credit Union. We are excited to have this opportunity to grow regionally across Georgia and Tennessee. Together we’d have 45 branches to serve members. This strategic partnership will bring together two well-respected, member-owned financial institutions serving communities across our two great states. LGE is a strong, healthy organization, and this merger strengthens our ability to support members and make a bigger impact on the communities we serve now and well into the future.

Earlier this year LGE Community Credit Union’s board of directors unanimously voted in support of this merger. Now that we have also received regulatory approval, the final approval is up to you. You are being asked to vote on a proposal for a merger with Ascend Federal Credit Union. Unlike bank mergers that are designed to make money for stockholders, this merger represents a partnership between two community-focused, well-respected credit unions that are committed to members, employees, and the communities they serve.

Your vote is important and a merger between LGE Community Credit Union and Ascend Federal Credit Union must have the approval of a majority of LGE Community Credit Union members who vote on the proposal. Along with this communication, you will find a Notice of Special Meeting and voting instructions. Members who are not opted into receiving electronic notifications from LGE Community Credit Union will receive this notice by mail along with a paper ballot and a postage paid return envelope.
