Merger Vote

On behalf of the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s & Affiliates Credit Union, we have some important news for you. After careful consideration, your Board of Directors has voted unanimously that St. Mary’s & Affiliates Credit Union merge with Heartland Credit Union. It is increasingly difficult for small credit unions to remain viable in today’s environment and to provide the tools, financial products, and resources that members expect. Joining forces with Heartland Credit Union will give you added benefits including enhanced services, more convenience, and access to cutting edge technologies. Heartland also shares our same commitment of providing exceptional service and value to members.

Heartland Credit Union is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin and has locations throughout the southwestern part of the state, including two within a 3-mile radius of our Madison branch. We are grateful to occupy our current Madison and Janesville offices located in the SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospitals and our plans are to keep those in operation.

Membership Vote
While this change is strongly recommended by your Board of Directors and management, a decision to merge is dependent upon approval from the members of St. Mary’s & Affiliates Credit Union. Members are able to cast their votes in an election held for the purpose of voting on the merger from June 1 to July 21, 2023. The election will be conducted online.

Special Virtual Membership Meeting
Members are invited to attend a special virtual meeting on July 19, 2023, where you will have an opportunity to meet the leaders of both credit unions and discuss the partnership. To register for the meeting and receive log in instructions go to www.smacu.org.

Comments, along with the member’s name, will be posted by the NCUA on their website, subject to the limitations and requirements of its regulations.
