Ed Dobson lives in Bluff, Utah. From November 2000 until August 2017 he served the legal needs of income-eligible applicants through the Utah office of DNA - People's Legal Services, including the DNA's lead counsel at the U.S. Tax Court. From 1989 to 1998 Ed sat in the Montana Water Court as water master assigned to the Bitterroot and Musselshell Basins with district court powers to hear disputes in Montana's state-wide-re-adjudication of appropriation doctrine water rights. His favorite joke from his 9 years on the Montana Water Court is that the winning side is always the side which brings in the oldest liar. Before that, in private, practice, Ed specialized in federal court civil tax defense and argued cases in the federal districts for Montana, Northern Indiana, and Western Pennsylvania. Ed helped develop the theory of the innocent spouse in the late 1980's in the Montana case, U.S. v. Sellner. Ed received his J.D. at the University of Montana School of Law in 1987 at age 43.
I enjoy "talking shop" with Mr. Sharpe and other San Juan Credit Union staff. Not licensed to practice in Utah, so I would come in as an educated layman and not confuse anyone as to attorney-client relationships. Living in Montana almost 30 years I was a big fan of the old Farmers Union Co-op. I see credit unions in the same light. |
